Have I understood this correctly? If (hopefully) I’ve misunderstood and Tinderbox container actually syncs with SimpleNote’s Dropbox folder, that would mean it should be easy to redirect a Tinderbox container to sync with any generic Dropbox folder. When I discovered it was under the care of. I got excited about my notes again but realized how badly I had been wanting another setup. nvALT, my preferred text editor, has been the constant tool in my writing and note making setup for more than a year now. My understanding from reading Tinderbox help, etc is that Tinderbox container syncs with SimpleNote server, not with SimpleNote’s Dropbox folder. Then, several months ago, I saw the news that Brett and Fletcher Penney of MultiMarkdown were working on nvAlt’s successor, nvUltra. I’d like to not rely on SimpleNote as an intermediary. I already use pretty good (if not superior) text-editing apps for generating notes and storing in Dropbox. I would rather not have apps with overlapping functions, if possible. To SimpleNote’s credit, they apparently encrypt files during the synchronization process (to/from server). Single Note Mode (F11) Simplenote Pinned and Tag support. From their FAQ page: “due to the need for searching your notes from the web, the contents must remain unencrypted while in storage so the software can find your search terms.” I’d prefer not to share my notes with a small company that probably has an unclear business model/future. Support internal link with and (wikilink) Optional plain text file (.txt) per note as database. For feature updates and roadmaps, our reviewers preferred the direction of Simplenote over Notion. When comparing quality of ongoing product support, reviewers felt that Notion is the preferred option. I’d rather not give yet another company access to my notes. Reviewers felt that Notion meets the needs of their business better than Simplenote. However, compared to the best note-taking apps. Ive been using nvNotes over the last week and it has replaced Simplenote and. While there are still issues with nvALT’s implementation lagging behind Simplenote’s API (which have been getting more frequent lately), the rampant deletion of notes in nvALT should be over now. Separately, it can sync with a Dropbox folder, if you’ve turned on that setting in SimpleNote. The aptly named Simplenote is a completely free note-taking app developed by Automattic, the company best known for website platform . Use Dropbox to Sync with hundreds of Apps including nvALT and Notational. Update: Simplenote has announced that there was an issue on their end this morning, and that it has been corrected. Unzip the file and copy the contents to a new folder, then open that folder with nvUltra. It seems SimpleNote syncs notes through its own server. If your notes are in Simplenote but not already synced through something like Notational Velocity/nvALT, you can use Simplenote’s export features to download a zip file of all of your notes. Using a database has the benefit of having encryption. Note:Tinderbox container :: file:Dropbox folder I set nvALT to use a single database to store and sync my notes.
